Business is Blooming: How a Modern, New Website Streamlined User Experience

Gemini created a modern website for Malmborg's Garden Center. With a simplified and streamlined user experience, the site becomes a valuable resource for gardening related information.

Overview

Malmborg’s garden center came to us with an outdated and barely functioning web page. They were having difficulty performing even simple tasks like updating plant availability or adding blog posts. Their existing page was beyond revamping. It was time for a new website.

Digging in:

Our Focus

Malmborg’s is a family owned garden center that grows and sells over a thousand different varieties of plants, vegetables and flowers. Our goal was to create a new site that showcased their immense catalog and made it easy for prospective customers to find what they were looking for.

The company’s existing website was outdated, cluttered and difficult to use. Broken links, inadequate search capability and poor user interface severely compromised Malmborg’s ability to appear as a gardening authority.

To build a site the owners would love and attracted more customers we would need to:

  • Catalog and categorize a huge quantity of flora.
  • Create a detailed consumer-friendly search interface.
  • Make it easy to for the owners to update plant availability.
  • Designate separate channels for wholesale and retail.
  • Organize unindexed categories of information like “recipes.”
  • Create an easy blog interface.
  • Integrate with Shopify for online sales and curbside pickup.

Geraniums by George

Malmborg's

Malmborg’s Garden Center, established in 1958, was purchased by George Lucht in 1972 after he had worked for the Malmborg’s family for many years. Malmborg’s Garden Center had earned an excellent reputation in the community and George decided to keep the name “Malmborg’s” and add “Geraniums by George” as his own personal touch. George expanded the business in 1976 when he purchased the current growing range in Rogers, MN and developed greenhouses and a retail store on the site.
